Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary]

Adams in the slot running short to intermediate routes.

The new "Slant Boy" the Saints lack now.

A 1st Down Machine!

Move Dem Chains!

Then out wide getting physical and getting his there as well.

The Dude had 100 catches, 1500+ yards and 14 TDs just 2 years ago with Carr throwing to him.

Adams in this offense is more of a game controller than a game dominator. The Saints have speed in Olave, Shaheed, and Tipton. What they lack is a receiver that can get open on demand, when everyone knows he's getting the ball, and he's able to get open and make the catch anyway. When 3rd and 7 is automatic your team is unstoppable. Adams is more than that, but that is what the Saints lack. The running game could be even more potent when the defense has to defend the entire field.
Anyone that doesn't see the big picture here, and is just saying "we don't need him, we have other needs, we can't afford him, etc etc etc".... this is a great post. I slightly disagree about his usage in the slot, but otherwise great post. I think him as a true WR1 on the outside, leaving Sheed in the slot, would be ideal.

Olave and Sheed are fast and good route runners, but they aren't that physical and don't fight for 50/50 balls. Adams has done that his entire career. That would be a HUGE benefit right now with the O-line being a little beat-up... Carr would need to get the ball out QUICKLY, and to a guy he trusts to be in a spot at a certain time. He's had great timing with Adams in college, and the 1 year with the Raiders.... and they work out together in the offseason, I believe.

Not to mention the opposing D will send their top corner against Adams, leaving Olave to face a lesser matchup.
