I think the vision is for us to acquire the player, try to tread water a few weeks, then explode in the second half of the season once we get some guys healthy.
I really don’t think this scenario is far-fetched nor do I understand why it is being so overlooked.
Virtually every team in the league’s OL would be in shambles with the injuries we have had. Thankfully though, neither of the main two injuries (McCoy and Ruiz) are of the season-ending variety, so we should see some gradual, natural improvement there this season.
We wouldn’t be the first team to hit our stride late in the year and make noise in the postseason. The season is a marathon, not a sprint where you have to dominate from start to finish or get out to a 13-0 start to show you are worthy. We have literally seen a 9-7 team win a whole Super Bowl before.
