So…How Hot Is Dennis Allen’s Seat?

Come on now. We didn't have a starting QB when DA got the job. He inherited Winston and got Dalton as the backup. Of course there were going to be some personnel changes over the course of 3 years, there is on every team every season. But don't pretend the team and the coaching staff weren't the exact same minus Payton his first year. He didn't fill it in with his guys. The second year either. Only this offseason was there any really changes made. Those are Loomis choices.

But whatever, I don't even think DA is a good head coach. He's a fine DC, but not a HC.
I'm not sure he's even a "fine" defensive coordinator. I think he's a middling DC at best. This season, in particular, he has very little depth and they're on the field a lot. But I have watched this team for years under DA make the same bonehead mistakes on defense, that more often than not, costs games in the fourth quarter. The KC game was the third in a row where a shallow cross goes for about 60 yards. Historically, there are untimely PI penalties, the D-lineman incessantly rush past the QB, poor tackling, hitting a RB in the backfield or at the line, but still ending up in a 4 yard gain, poor angles of pursuit, ineffective blitzes. They seem to have poor situational awareness and lack of details and low energy at times. DA wants to play bully ball on D but doesn't really have the horses to do that. Tough to want to play like the 90's Ravens without Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs type players. And maybe they could have that type of player with better coaching. It is very difficult to watch this team over the years commit the same defensive atrocities without concluding a coaching deficiency.
