It's the Saints’ ownership.....

Can someone tell me honestly why Sean Payton left the Saints? I feel like if he would have just left because he was burned out or whatever then he wouldn't throw so much shade our way and be stealing players all the time. He took most of his coaches. Don't you wish he was here doing his Sean Payton thing???

What "shade" is he throwing our way? He is claiming players that he and, in the case of Perry, Carmichael thinks fit his system. It's not at all surprising that some of those are Saints players when we were the only other team in the NFL that ran his system and we had run it for almost 20 years so we had been selecting players to fit that system for almost 20 years. Plus, he has familiarity with many of those players.

He left because he was burned out and wanted something new. He explained it in his press conference. And if you think he is "throwing shade", if there was more to the story he would certainly tell that story. Payton is nothing if not petty.

Payton was a great coach for us and he had a relationship with this team and city that was special. I'm not sure he can replicate that in Denver and I'm not sure he could do it again here. He doesn't seem to be quite as driven as he once was. Which is understandable given his age and all the success and money he has.

I wish him well other than when he plays the Saints or needs to lose to help the Saints. But, Payton's time here is over and we have no choice but to move on. Being melancholy about it won't change anything.
