There oughta be a law against....

There ought to be a law against people who take vertical videos with their phone cameras. I can't imagine how mentally numb someone has to be to record a video of any event in a portrait (vertical) format. Every time I see a phone-recorded video that has been submitted to some news agency or other web-based platform and they have to add blurred sides to the media in order for it to fit a standard landscape screen, it makes me wonder how these wannabe camera operators have their TVs and computer monitors setup at their homes. It makes absolutely no sense to me. I can honestly say that I have never recorded a video vertically with my phone. I want the playback of my videos to fit properly on the devices that I (and most every normal person) use to watch such media.

Obviously I am not talking about still photos. There are times when it is appropriate to put the subject of a photo in a vertical format. But PLEASE people, please learn to rotate your phone camera 90 degrees before taking a video. In the long run you will be glad that you did and you will be doing your part to help keep me from blowing a gasket every time I see the evidence of someone who does not understand the best way to format a video. Thank you for your cooperation!
