Spencer Rattler’s first start was…
Rattler was the only reason we were in this game by halftime. He had no protection, ran for 1st downs, lost his #1 guy, threw dimes when he could find an open target…. And many of his best plays got called back on penalties or the guy who caught if fumbled.
In the 2nd half…. Tampa’s staff made adjustments, and we just kept throwing the kid to the wolves. After that he just started to take chances to keep us in it….
Sometimes I don’t know what other people are watching.
This was a no win situation for him. He did about what I expected. He showed he has the goods…. But as a rookie in his 1st start he wasn’t going to be able overcome the avalanche of injuries, no help, and lack of coaching adjustments.
He also threw some 50/50 balls to Shaheed that a contested catch guy would come down with for a big play…. Shaheed is a great player…. But contested catches aren’t his thing and Spencer had nowhere else to go with the ball.
He’s the future…. The only question is when does that permanent future start.
