Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary]

I mostly agree. But I do sometimes wonder if needing/wanting those 6' 6" 280 lbs. DEs is part the reason we miss on so many DEs in the draft. Not many guys are that size and most of them go in the top 5. So they end up having to project how guys that size who are raw will develop. It also seem like guys like that tend to get hurt a lot. Not sure if it's that they are carrying too much weight on their frames or if those long arms and long legs tend to get tangled up with other players.
I think every philosophy involves tweaking. I agree on the planet theory for DT's, however the 6'5 270 lb DL used to be more of a rare occurence, and so it made sense philosophically to put a premium on those guys. Remember back when we used a 6th rounder on Rufus Johnson? That was a time where you might find 3-4 of those guys in the draft, so you took a shot.

Now, they are a pretty common sight, but the "rush specialist" role is now expanding where team would be smart to have a guy who does just that. Those guys come in diff shapes and sizes. Look at guys like Haason Reddick...

I absolutely think there should be a tweak in edge rushers, but not necessarily those dancing bear DT's. Those guys are worth their weight in gold.

I'm convinced that if we had somehow beat the Chiefs and Carr doesn't get injured....Davante Adams is a Saint right now.

That said, it was the right move to not trade for him now that the season looks the way it does. I still have faith we can climb our way out of this hole but Davante wasn't going to be a savior. And that price tag is just too much when we're not going "All in for a Superbowl" like it appeared was possible after week 3 or so

Everything happens as it should.
