Maybe Jon Gruden ends up being Saints HC?

My original point was to hire a passionate HC like Gruden, an experienced coach that you;ll know that its just a matter of time. Then some guy chimed in and attempted to crush Grudens on the field prowess. So i defended Gruden. Thats all. I agree, there may be too much baggage for any team to ever hire him again.

I think it's important to have a coach with that kind of passion, I just think unless he's a CEO coach like Dan Campbell, you need a guy who is also a great mind on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. I don't think Gruden is that even if we ignore the background issues and his record in his last job with the Raiders.

But you are right that those kinds of leadership skills are important. I think it's one of the things that Dennis Allen lacks and is part of the reason I don't think Klint Kubiak would be a good choice for the HC job and Rizzi might be.

At the same point if a guy is too much of a rah rah guy with noting in terms of X's and O's or wins to back it up, the modern day player will quickly turn a deaf ear to those motivational tactics.
