Time to give Haener a shot

This honestly just kind of sucks for Rattler. When Carr got injured, it appeared Rattler would have a decent shot to showcase his ability. However, things just really haven’t played out in a way that would allow any (rookie) QB to really showcase their ability with our current roster situation.

Our OL is a joke with 3/5 starters still out. Figured Ruiz and Patrick would have been back by now at least making it a serviceable OL but they continue to miss games. Olave missing had huge ramifications as well. He’s a guy that can get open quickly which is obviously needed when you have a decimated OL. Even missing Taysom Hill has been big as he creates some chaos when on the field with his versatility.

Then to top it off our defense has been a joke during Rattlers 2 games causing imbalanced gameplans by falling behind quickly while going up against one of the top defenses in the league.

Long story short. I think it’s a huge disservice to Rattler to bench him for the next game. Playoffs at this point are a long shot. Carr is still likely to miss 1-2 more games anyway. Olave should be back for the next game. Taysom Hill and Lucas Patrick should also be back for the next game. Not sure on Ruiz, but that would also be huge if he is able to play.

At this point, I’d like to see a real gauge of what Rattler could do with a few of our starters back in the lineup to give him an actual shot to showcase his ability. If he continues to struggle then it may be time to give Haener a shot, but anyone that went into last nights game thinking Rattler had a fair chance to succeed was kidding themselves with all the circumstances going against him.
