Indiana is earning a thread of its own
I thought of this case yesterday while on a very small hike with the wife and kids (5&7). It was a very small loop on the outskirts of town. We wanted to collect some sticks and bring them home for a fire. This trail loop isn’t normally secluded but it closed indefinitely due to Hurricane Helene. But we still went down it…
As normal I tend to go off the trail on my own taking pictures of mushrooms when I see them. I’m probably 30 feet off the trail loop and out of sight.
Wife is watching the kids bounce around on some fallen trees that were all over (thanks to Hurricane Helene).
All of a sudden my wife says my name in a calm but direct voice. I look back up the trail and there was a larger man (probably 50 years old) just staring at them a hundred yards away closer to the start of the loop. He’s just standing still.
He looked exactly like the Indiana killer. Jeans, hat, beard and hands in his pockets.
He starts walking closer (really just walking down the trail) and I make myself visible. And I make it obvious that I see him as my eyes are clearly focused on him.
He takes a few more steps and I take equal steps towards him while looking at him dead in the eye. He pauses. And for a few seconds we just stare at each other.
He then turned around and left. We saw nor heard any car. He just left.
Odds are he was just a random dude just trying to pass the time and enjoy a walk. He may have went back home and told a similar story as mine. “I’m just minding my business and this creepy dad was freaking me out!”.
Who knows. But my wife and I had a very bad feeling when looking at him.
