The answer to the OP question is, we don't. As long as Mickey and company commit to this style of doing business we will continue to fluctuate from bad to at best average for 5 years at least before the inevitable sucking period. All the while they have bored the fan base with no plan. We are about to enter a very dark period for the franchise if they dont get lucky and draft a transformative QB the moment we finally do get a top pick.

We did this style of business for 15 years while Payton was here and it was highly successful. The difference was that we had a much better head coach that also contributed to talent evaluation. Fix the talent evaluation and coaching and you can do business however you want.

Anyway, they are working on getting the cap under control but it's not an instant fix. It should be fine in two years.
