Ukraine

My confusion is why NATO has allowed Russia to dictate the rules and support that is given to Ukraine. So if North Korea wants to throw troops in Ukraine then we should have no problem when France or Poland does the same.

from some of the other posts im reading is that European NATO countries are beginning to understand reliance upon US is fleeting. ( as it relates to the "now" )

Im encouraged that European nations are not particularly waiting on US to act in a certain manner or "give their blessing" for certain actions. The downside is the US reputation will take a hit thru all of this.

We have been very very skittish from the outset of this conflict, when it comes to fully supporting Ukraine. I dont fully understand it, im not privy to the intel they have, but on the surface, its a bad look. So i have to imagine there is some intel that gives pause to certain aspects of support.

I dont like it, never have, never will...at some point, if you desire to be the "beacon on the hill" for freedom, democracy and anti-authoritarianism, its going to require decisions to be made outside of a vacuum. We simply havent stepped up to that plate, not only not fast enough, but not looking to hit a home run vs a single.

However, i do applaud Europe finally waking to the real possibility of conflict that isnt resolved diplomatically and acting accordingly.

The caveat to all of this is Nov 5, right? Its going to push this in one of two distinct directions.

one good, one bad.

there is a host of other dominoes to fall if we arent steadfast in defense of Ukraine, NATO and Eastern Europe.
