Reading between the lines of Alvin Kamara’s commitment to the Saints

Agreed with most of that. But I don’t count being outmaneuvered for Mahomes in 2017 as a “whiff.” Drafting Latt when they drafted him helped rebuild a putrid defense that did its part to totally waste three whole years of Brees’ career.
Well, it's not a whiff in the standard way, but what's more important to a team a CB or a QB? If were as aggressive about Mahomes as the Chiefs obviously were, we move up 2 spots if we have to and get him, because that's your guy. Still I'm not blaming them for ending up w/ Lattimore and making that pick, it's just that we've watched them trade up for multiple players over the years that they've had a "conviction on" Multiple DE's, CB's, DT's....etc. So, they should have traded up for Mahomes if they had that much of a conviction him, and based on the story told "of having Drew in the building etc" they def had a conviction on Mahomes and were prepared to take him. Of all the wheeling and dealing we do, that should have been the night we did it.

I can't imagine it would have cost us more to move up 2 spots than it took the Chiefs to jump roughly 20 or more.
