How many offensive lineman should the Saints draft next year?

Indeed, Penning (edit, no, Widge correct). And McCoy.

Even so, the point was not that the team is constantly trading up to acquire OL, but rather that management is constantly trading up to acquire someone. It's not possible to rebuild with lots of draft picks if the picks are being traded away each year. The draft is a crap shoot, even in the early rounds, and the more throws, the more chances of hits.
It's only a bad trade up when you don't hit on the player. We actually moved down a spot and were able to take Penning. It's Olave we probably gave up too much to get. In reality Olave cost us 2 3rds and a 7th in 22. In 23 a 1st #10 and in 24 a 2nd. Way too much for him. The Davenport trade was bad not because he as not good , but he could not stay healthy.
And then there is the AK trade up and the McCoy trade up. Don't see anyone complaining about those trade ups
