OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD - Saints @ Chargers -10/27/24

What's the upside in standing in the pocket and at least seeing if someone comes open in the endzone?

He doesn't have to throw it if no one is open. He gave up on the play before it even had a chance.

That pocket will break down eventually, you know that right? No one is coming open in the endzone. Understand the situation.

Only bad things can happen if he steps up into that pocket:

  1. The only open throws are short of the endzone (halftime, no points)
  2. Throw into the endzone (high int chance, extremely low completion chance)
  3. Pocket collapses (potential sack fumble, potential intentional grounding because he stepped up into the pocket)

If this was the end of the game and we needed a TD to tie or win, yes, you are correct. But it's halftime. He played it perfectly.
