Loomis Appears to be Trying to Prove that He Can Win a Championship Without Payton and Brees
As much as I want to believe Loomis still has "it", I'm just not sure at all. In the last 3 years, I can't see a single move made that has worked out to our favor. Much of it I believe is by proxy of keeping DA as HC. But this past offseason, extending everyone instead of getting the cap back in order really, super baffles me.
If there ever was a chance to turn this franchise into a dynasty at some point in the next 3-5 years, this past offseason had to be the start. Now it seems too late. No decent coach is coming here after this season with the cap in utter destruction, and stuck with a mediocre QB, with so much money tied into aging vets that barely produce (No high profile Head Coach candidate is going to take a job where he's set up to fail, much like Carolina).
We really outta start having conversations of who is the most attractive place for a head coach to go. Cleveland Brows or New Orleans. Wow. Actually typing that, and realizing its a very valid debate, really, super really, shows just how far down Loomis has allowed us to fall sticking with DA.
