Saints fired Dennis Allen

I hope this just isn't "ripping the Band-Aid off" to prevent greater scrutiny of the entire organization. It would have taken a miracle for the Saints to finish this season much better than 6-11, which still would have led to DA having to go at the end of the year. This way, the team proves that they have now "done something" to fix things, and a mid-season firing puts the focus on DA as having being the root cause of the problem. Of course, I wouldn't have expected a midseason firing of Loomis or others, but if this is the only change before next year, I wouldn't be too optimistic. The one hope would be if they luck into hiring another dynamic, up-and-coming coach with a take-charge personality wanting to prove himself, and willing to aggressively insert himself into all aspects of running the team. If Loomis is allowed to stay and just hire another cog to fit into what they perceive to be a successful system, it is likely we will end up with mediocrity, at best. DA was a problem, but he was far from being the only problem.
