I'm not saying he deserves credit. I honestly think Loomis was going to fire him but he would have likely waited until the end of the season due to their long term relationship. That's an issue with hiring a coach you have been close to for many years. You think of them as people and a friend which makes it harder to fire them. It's an issue none of us have because we don't have personal relationships with any of them.
I actually think that long term it might have been better to fire him at the end of the season so we get better draft picks to build with. But I do also get that it was destroying the locker room so maybe you never come back from it.
At any rate, I'm just happy that the DA era is over. It was tearing this place apart as much as it was tearing the team apart.
And I'm good with Loomis going too. I don't think he's done as bad of a job as some think and I don't have the blood lust some have for firing him. And I think he has adjusted to do things better the last 2 or 3 years, but it's probably time to move Loomis up and get some new young blood into the GM spot. He probably deserves one more shot to hire a head coach after going 1 for 2, but he's not getting any younger and oftentimes GMs don't get that chance with a hire as bad as DA.
