The next head coach is inheriting a mess

Wasn’t long ago we were talking about how old Kamara is in RB years. Olave and Shaheed both have durability concerns. The OL might end up being enough of a strength to build on. The QB room is okay and some coach might be legitimately interested in working with Rattler or Haener (if they liked what they saw scouting them as prospects) with a chance to bring another young guy in, also.

But I think you hit on the key point with the 2-3 year timeline on potentially normalizing the cap situation to the point it’s not a barrier to success. 2-3 years of mediocre or worse results and fans are ready to run a coach off. And that has me thinking about expectations; both fans and the team.

I'm not saying there aren't issues. But looking at AK run against Carolina made me think he isn't one of them. Some RBs for whatever reason excel at older ages. Maybek AK is one of them?

Anyway, yes, I think our biggest advantage is that this organization has always been willing to be patient no matter how bloodthirsty the fans are and we have a solid owner who has shown she cares and knows what is going on. In addition, it's an organization that has shows it will spend whatever it can to give the coach the players they want. That goes a long way in making a HC candidate comfortable with a job.

So what we might not offer in tangibles (other than a big fat contract) we might be able to offer in intangibles. Plus, there are only likely going to be 6 or so jobs available so there will be a good candidate available. Just have to pick the right one like we did when Payton wasn't at the top of lists.
