The next head coach is inheriting a mess
Bullhockey Speilman is just an assistant to the CEO. Sorry but martial arts and the ultimate TEAM sport are miles apart. DC is basically a cheerleader talking about grit while Johnson and Glenn to the brain work and Holmes is the architect of the team
You clearly have no idea what your talking about.
A head coach is part football guy, part motivator, part executive. And you undervalue the the motivator part. When you have someone who is a good motivator, going to work or whatever activity is a million times better and productive.
I have no idea how good DC is at other things but it is clear that he is quite good at the executive part because his players always look organised, they understand their role and the gameplan, and they are ready to go. That doesn't happen without someone at the top who knows how to organise his people and practices. DA's teams look horrible and make mistakes all the time.
You also underestimate the motivation part and call it being a cheerleader. The example I used the guy was in competition with a dozen other studios, many going out of business and at the time he had 250+ regular members... 25 years later he is still in business while hundreds of other places came and went in his area. Many of his customers were police and military. So building buy in is an art. DA didn't have this. No one seemed to trust that what was happening would work.
As to Spellman his job is really interesting. He is there advising Shiela Ford as they go through different aspects of the year. They obviously have a set of goals for the organisation on what they want it to look like. The owner is drawing on his experience in who to hire and what culture to create. You seem to dismiss this. Imagine what our team would look like if Gayle had an ex-player guiding her in the same manner; instead, she has Loomis who has never played a down of football in his life..
