Maybe Jon Gruden ends up being Saints HC?

That 30 yard fade should not have even been in the read progression on 4th and short at the end of the game.

And if these excuses apply to Kubiak, wouldn't they equally apply to DA?
Teams run clear out routes all the time, and yes teams call shot plays on 3rd and even 4th and short because there's a chance the guy gets open because the defense is more worried about giving up a first. If that's Olave or Shaheed he's throwing too no one is particularly worried about it (although from what I remember live the throw itself wasn't great either). For whatever reason Carr never really seemed to look at Juwan Johnson, either he decided pre-snap he didn't think it was getting open or for some reason really liked the idea of throwing that fade. Maybe it was completely intentional, maybe it was horrible decision making, but either way if Carr does look at Johnson he's got a higher percentage throw available and the time to deliver it. I just don't think it's Kubiak's fault for our QB deciding to lock in on the low percentage ball and throw it to the guy who in the best case scenario would be our 4th option at receiver. Personally I could take or leave Kubiak as an OC, the first two weeks were fun, it's been average at the best of times and horrible at the worst since then. I don't personally think the scheme itself is a problem so on one hand, IF the new HC wants to keep him around then I'm fine with that. Likely though whoever comes in will want to bring in their own staff and have their own overarching philosophy as to what kind of offense/defense best compliments the side of the ball they favor unless they're one of those HCs that are fine with not calling plays on either side of the ball.

As far as Allen goes, he largely lost the fan base last season, the players seem to rally late on and looked dangerous albeit against a fairly easy schedule on paper. This year, it became pretty clear that he lost his defensive guys (though the injuries haven't helped on D either) and when the defensive Head Coach has lost the confidence on the side of the ball he prioritizes and calls the plays for well it was either go through the motions for the rest of the year or fire him now. Gayle Benson, with or without Loomis backing, decided for the latter option. We'll see if the players rally under Rizzi and at the very least give a full effort throughout the whole game. I think we're probably too banged up to completely turn things around but again I just want to see HOW the players respond to this.
