Draft Jaxson Dart Ole Miss
Jaxson could be a good NFL qb, but he's not going to come in immediately and change things. He has steadily improved at Ole Miss. He's not the interception waiting to happen that Corral was, but he locks in on his first read too hard. If he doesn't like that read, it takes him longer than it should to process it and throw to the check down. You all saw that in the LSU game. He was sacked over and over, not because he was pressured quickly, it was mainly from him holding onto the ball too long. Now, I would rather that than to throw a pick, but still. He is mobile, I think he will run in the 4.6-7 range, he has a strong arm and can make all the throws and his deep ball is really good. You saw that this past weekend in Fayetteville. I think he's a guy that be be like Jordan Love, sit and learn for a couple years and then come in seasoned and be a good player. As much as I like him, he's not our answer.
We need a franchise guy. I made a post a few years ago talking about how all the playoff teams now have these young dynamic guys that they drafted. Mahommes, Herbert, Allen, Hurts, Tua, Lawrence and the list goes on. Those are the teams that are going to be good going forward. We hit gold with Drew, I don't think that can be replicated and we haven't drafted a first rounder since Archie. The bad thing is, I just don't see that guy in this year's draft. Ward is all over the place, I think he gets by on arm strength alone and he plays really inferior competition. You put him in the SEC and I don't see the same success. The only qb worth a high pick to me right now is Rourke out of Indiana and he's a mid rounder like Pickett.
