What are your thoughts on early voting? (please do not reference political parties or candidates)

My buddy's mom died a couple days ago. She had already mailed in her vote so come election Day I know at least 1 dead person who's vote will be counted. I realize she was alive when she cast the vote but not sure I like that it will be counted since she's technically not here when the election happens. Another draw back to mail in voting are the ballot box fires.
Well, there's no rule that voids a valid vote if a person dies before the polls close. If my early vote counts, then so does every other validly cast vote. As long as the voter was the one who cast the vote, it should count. I mean, it's not any different than a parson dying minutes after casting their vote on election day. Both are valid.

Also, how many ballot box fires have there been out of 200 million+ votes? We're talking about a miniscule number.

And what if a polling station burns down? That would destroy far more votes than than a few ballot box fires.
