Saints fired Dennis Allen

You know, sometimes organizations put out narratives they want out there, to control the message to the public.

It very well could be that Mickey supported the firing but they decided it’s best to pin it on the owner so that potential hires won’t look at our situation as “Dang, that GM may fire me if we have a rash of injuries” or “Man what a loyal GM, I’d love to work with that guy.”

Not saying that is the case here, but it isn’t implausible.

What I do know for sure is that the PR the Saints released was vetted and is THEIR narrative, for one reason or another, and it’s more likely than not to include some event fudging.

Certainly it's possible but I think it's a bit of a reach. Mickey would have done something long ago if he supported the firing. He certainly wouldn't be gaslighting fans all season long on his "coaches show" about how we need to look beyond the results. If that's his belief, you really think he wouldn't have just stood behind his guy and toughed it out?

After all - it was an avalanche of injuries. It took it's toll. Those were his exact words in his press release after the firing. Nothing about needing to be better as a team. Nothing about it being the best decision for the organization. Just more excuses.

So no, I don't believe that Mickey supported the firing. Gayle apparently listened to players and their stance on the coaching situation. What did Mickey do last year? He had guys sit down in his office to tell them to get on board because it isn't changing.

I understand you really want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but there's just really too much out there that backs Mickey not wanting this to happen.
