When you are only reading other people's opinions to inform yours, you have no opinions. This is why I never liked Twitter (cos it's Twitter, it's not X). I am "on" it but hardly ever read it. Never post. And mostly "follow" sports.
I don't think anyone should blindly follow anything you read, but you can be informed on other points of view from reading the opinions of others. You can then either choose to accept or reject those opinions of fall somewhere in between. But, I don't see how reading the opinions of others is a bad thing.
