The next head coach is inheriting a mess

SMH , Obviously you have tunnel vision and haven't looked beneath the surface of why the Lions have had success. Martial arts and football are completely different animals. 1 is a TEAM game and the other is the individual. Yes motivation is important in both but that's the only similarity.
But being a good motivator is not enough in football you HAVE to be an X's and O's guy as well like a Payton or a Walsh or a Belichick. In fact in the pro game being an X's and O's guy is more important and likeable as Campbell he is not

You keep comparing DC to DA and that's NOT the issue nor the point of my posts. Yes a HC is all that you mentioned but the exe. part has been taken off DC's plate y Holmes. who IS the one making the important decisions like the draft and trades which is where the lions have been built
Over the last 5 drafts NO other team has had most top 100 draft picks , 19 in fact and in that 19 have been a #2, #3,and a #7. Holmes has been the one running the draft since 21

Heck , Ben Johnson their best coordinator was not even hired by DC , he was on staff when he got there.
I get it , Dan is a blue collar likeable guy. I like him too. But he is NOT the riving force behind the Lions success, Holmes and the haul they got from the Stafford trade along with being really bad in the yrs before he got there is . And don't forget he has the best duo of coordinators in the league, that by the way decided not to take HC jobs last yr

If you think Campbell is a great HC then you must believe Ed Ogeron is as well because they are pretty much the same guy

Yeah. Programming a curriculum for 250+ people, all the individual instructors, having them thinking they can and will be successful, and keeping everyone motivated and aimed at their goals would have ZERO cross over with what a football coach does.

Dan is great at many aspects of what makes a good coach. Where he is weaker, he delegates to good subordinates. If BJ leaves I am sure they will hunt around and find another bright OC to fill the role.

Thing with DA is he was really bad at motivating people or even getting all parts of the team working together. I had a boss like that, good guy, I liked him and he had your back, but really didn't really motivate me to do a good job or even want to be there. He also didn't really seem to have any solutions to the various problems, which was very frustrating. So similar.
