C Erik McCoy returned to practice 11/7/24; McCoy designated for return from IR

Mannn I had a theory on that, and Cam confirmed it in his interview.

You know how on madden certain coaches come w/ certain bonuses? Some might give you +2 blk shedding others +2 Awareness or play recognition...

I recall Payton Turner pointing out how Grantham was teaching them to read schemes so they could know how they were going to be attacked. He appeared to be more of a counter puncher. That meant less focus on fundamentals and attacking your man, and more on reading scheme so you can make a play. First thing out of Cams mouth was exactly the above in a sense, that under Young they were getting back to fundamentals and attacking their opponent and less about reading the play.

You know what hilarious about that? Allen talked about being a more attacking defense and having guys get smaller, and yet brought in a coach who literally wasn't about attacking at all. Grantham's new role actually fits his philosophy better, and B Youngs new role should truly help get the most out of the Dline. Just another gaffe that Allen made, and wasn't willing to adjust to.

Meanwhile Rizz coming in and identifying all this stuff and making the appropriate changes and I don't know whether I'm elated or just miffed that Allen, as smart as he is....didn't see these things.
I think a big part of Allen's downfall is Drinking his own kool aid. He's obviously a great D Coordinator, and has been fielding good defenses so long and got full of himself, and then when he became head coach he thought he was always the smartest person in the room and wouldn't change anything, working or not.
