C Erik McCoy returned to practice 11/7/24; McCoy designated for return from IR

I think a big part of Allen's downfall is Drinking his own kool aid. He's obviously a great D Coordinator, and has been fielding good defenses so long and got full of himself, and then when he became head coach he thought he was always the smartest person in the room and wouldn't change anything, working or not.
I think his biggest downfall is he didn't develop as a HC which was what Mickey was attempting to do. I wrote several threads that I felt, if DA gave up playcalling, he could focus on just the HC aspect of working sideline etc. It was something I saw guys do, like I think Nick Sirianni in PHI mentioned being a playcaller and HC is difficult, so he initially took those responsibilities off his plate so he could focus elsewhere.

I figured if DA did that he could narrow his focus and improve, and if the defense ever slipped he could just blame the DC and take the playcalling back over. I thought it was smart, and at least logical. I thought Joe Woods, was the perfect opportunity for him to do that.
