Beating the Falcons proved what many thought

1. higher picks don't necessarily guarantee a player won't bust. plenty of top 5 picks BUST; and every team in the NFL passed on Drew Brees in the 1st round. i don't think it matters that much if a player is taken top 5, middle of round, or end of round. what matters most, is making the RIGHT pick. at a minimum, a solid starter....ideally, a guy who moves the needle.
2. IF the Saints end up with a "middling pick", it means Rizzi did a helluva job with what he had to work with. I also think it means the Saints found a coach for the future. We're either gonna end up with a high pick, or a LTS (long-term solution) HC. Both are good outcomes, IMO. Truth be told though....I'd prefer the LTS Coach because I think that'll be a bigger impact on the team than any player the Saints select, except maybe a franchise caliber QB. But without the HC, I don't think the franchise caliber QB will matter much.

With those 2 things said, i hope that allows you to fully enjoy today's victory. I know I am. And if this effort continues, I'll still enjoy the "fight", regardless of outcome. As long as Rizzi and the team keeps chopping wood, the way wood is SUPPOSED to be chopped, the remainder of the season should be enjoyable to watch. (raises glass for toast) Here's to THAT!
I'm with you on this, rather the Saints be competitive, play with urgency get some wins. With this we have our next coach already in the building. It's one less thing to worry about in the off season.

I can't stand the thought of tanking
