How Conflicted Are You In Winning or Getting a Better Draft Pick
Considering that 1st round picks have a success rate of around 50%, I'm never going to pull for my team to lose for better draft picks.
Exactly. Early 1st round picks have even less success than later ones. Draft picks do not help teams get better or the Jets, Jaguars, Bears, Texans, Raiders, etc would have a lot more super bowls. There’s no such thing as a rebuild in the NFL.
Losing kills your culture, makes it less it less desirable for coaches and free agents, puts less revenue in your pocket, etc.
Winning makes it easier to resign proven talent, builds stable cultures, builds stable coaching regimes (remember that often players are drafted to fit certain schemes) makes it easier to get better free agents and coaches and gives you more cash to spend.
Winning is also a lot more fun to watch and makes talking about the team with miserable people a lot more tolerable.
Losing is really really dumb. Those of you on board with this, need to give yourselves a reality check.
