Eddie Murphy to play George Clinton

Curiously, since you're a Kiss fan, what is your opinion on their 1979 disco-metal hit " I was made for Loving You" that at the time sort of hurt their credibility amongst their old hardcore fan base and alienated fans of other metal bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin?

Me personally I think it took some guts to branch out and explore some new musical territory and I think, even by 1979, the band realized their great 1970's "forever party" would be coming to an end and the 1980's, unquestionably with punk, pop metal and new wave leading the way, would be a very different decade in terms of musical varieties and tastes.
I dig that entire album because it was "different" than their previous albums. I Was Made For Loving' You wasn't even the best song on that album...the "hit single" in my opinion was Charisma, and tell me Sure Know Something wouldn't have gotten AOR requests?! My other favorite on that album was Save Your Love....LOVED the "breakdown" and felt the emotions of that tune...."just go away and leave me ALONE". Even today, one of my favorite Kiss albums.

In retrospect, my favorite Kiss albums were when they got a "bump" from something new...Bob Ezrin producing Destroyer; outside songwriters (Desmond Child) and "disco" influences on Dynasty; new drummer on Creatures Of The Night (and technically new guitarist that we didn't learn about until next album); new guitarist and makeup removal for Lick It Up, etc... Kiss tended to get "stale" at times, but shined when something new happened to shake them up. And that was their best work, IMO...
