How Conflicted Are You In Winning or Getting a Better Draft Pick
Perhaps a non-sequitur on the surface, but a list of the Saints' best drafts ever, in chronological order, is in order.
1981, 1986, 2006, 2017.
The small handful of truly elite draft classes means you'll always have busts here and there. It's a function of the business. It's fairly tough to have more than two guys each year truly become what you'd call a "keeper." And so since the FO hasn't blown up the entire thing just yet -- and at this point doesn't figure to, outside of the head coach position -- it's good to have essentially clinched at least a middle-of-the-pack selection in the first round. I think we'll end up picking between fifth and tenth.
Interestingly, the first three of those four super-elite years were the first drafts for the coach at the time (Phillips, Mora and Payton).
