Pat Kirwan thinks Aaron Glenn will be next Saints HC

There's a lot of Loomis decisions over the last three years that remind me of the Chris Rock bit on OJ...-But I understand

I really think that they looked at Sean's last season as a fantastic coaching job with really difficult circumstances. Sean didn't do it alone and they didn't want to blow the staff out when he quit. - I understand

When hiring the replacement I think they knew if they hired Rizzi or Aaron Glenn, they would lose Allen for being passed over and the defense was playing fantastic. - I understand

And so on and so on.

Now this cycle is completely different. The palate has been cleansed. I said it in another thread but If you want to raid the Lions give me:

Aaron Glenn HC
Ray Agnew GM
Tanner Engstrand OC

I would like the new head coach to have his own personnel guy that shares his vision. Too many examples recently with San Fran, Buffalo and KC where getting the coach and letting him bring in someone that shares his vision has paid off. Mickey can be the EVP/Minister of Culture.
I think this is a pretty good analysis, and without KNOWING what happened behind closed doors, I'd bet money that you are very close if you didn't nail a bullseye.

I didn't like the DA hire, because I didn't like the way his defense seemed to fold way too often in clutch moments, but I also felt he deserved a shot. I understood the logic, and I was onboard. After that 1st season, I had seen enough to confirm that DA was a mistake and I was ready to move on. But if ML was inclined to give him another year, it made sense to get DA the QB he wanted and revamp the offense. Fine...I don't it will help, but I'll play along...

After year 2, I was sure the handwriting was on the wall and DA was gone. I was honestly shocked (and a little PISSED at management) for allowing a 3rd season to continue. I was sure it was a STUPID thing to do, and preseason seemed to bear that out. Then the Saints spiked off those 2 monster victories to start the season 2-0...and I watched them dismantle the Cowboys in Texas Stadium on national television; take the Cowboys lunch money, and made the Cowboys watch as they ate their lunch right in front of them. I fell for it....talked myself into believing I was wrong and the Saints were right. Little did we know that the Panther & Cowboys were 2 of the worst teams in the NFL this year. The Eagles & Falcons games showed familiar chinks in the armor, with the offense stalling out, and the defense folding in the most critical moments, despite being relatively healthy, especially compared to the toothless offense. Nothing had changed on the defensive side, and that was DA's domain. Each game the defense got worse. Every passing week I was getting MORE and MORE torqued that I would have to watch 3/4 of a season that was going to look like seasons 1 & 2, but worse. I'm flogging a dead horse....we all saw it....we all know.

I am HOPING for that COMPLETE palate cleansing you speak of. I don't want ML picking the next HC. Keep ML in the building...promote him...fire him...retire him...I DON'T CARE, as long as we have a new GM, and as long as Rizzi gets an interview IF he finishes the season 5-3 or better. Honestly, if Rizzi finishes 5-3 or better, I think he earned the right to remove the Interim label. But if a new GM is blown away by a HC candidate that is OBVIOUSLY better than 5-3 Rizzi, I'll be okay with that too.
