State Tax Bill

A few months ago, I received a letter from the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) claiming that I had unpaid taxes for 2022. Since I haven’t lived or worked in Louisiana since 2018, I initially dismissed it as a clerical error.

However, yesterday I received another letter from the LDR, this time with detailed numbers. The letter claims I owe $5,400 in back taxes. Given that I haven’t had any connection to Louisiana in over six years, I’m at a loss as to why I’m being issued this bill.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue with the LDR (or any state)? If so, how did you go about contesting it? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

So you didnt call them when you received the first letter? just assumed it was a mistake?

is the second letter, with detail, still a mistake? or in fact, correct?

Id probably start with either a phone call or email to inquire as to the dispute process.
