Future WR core

I understand wanting to be optimistic and looking for bright spots. When I put down the gold colored glasses and look at what we have, I'm much less optimistic.

In Olave we have a guy that so far seems to be more of a 1B and he has a concussion issue. Even if he is a 1A, he has a concussion issue. Expect him to miss time. Do you want your top guy wearing street clothes for half of each season?

Shaheed is a great "shot" guy. I see him as a #3 who could contribute as a #2 in a pinch. Not the ideal spot for him though.

MVS is basically Shaheed. He's bounced around because he has the dropsies. So far so good with the Saints, but ask GB and KC about it.

Means has flashed but whats his ceiling? Is he going to become that #1 or #2 you need? I wouldn't bet on it. Can he develop in to a rotational guy? Maybe.

Tipton is an unsigned free agent who isn't taking advantage of his opportunity to play and as a result was a healthy scratch last week. Rotational guy at best.

Pettis is a journeyman. Same with Wilson. Rotational vets.

E. St Brown is a veteran who can't earn an opportunity on a team that desperately needs help at his position. Not good.

I'm probably more excited about Kevin Austin than any of them, but I don't see him becoming a top tier guy. Rotational.

What does all of this mean? We probably need a #1 and #2 because I'm not counting on Olave. I'd love to say we can find those guys in the draft, but we need help at a lot of other positions too. Mickey can tell us we aren't rebuilding, and we can choose to believe him, but I'll go with what I'm seeing rather than what I'm hearing or want to believe. A rebuild needs to take place. We have some parts, but every team does.
