Do I think he can be a starter? Yes....why:
*Since coming into the league, he has never rated below 16th in terms of stats and metrics tied to QB productivity when starting at least half the season.
*He got better each season as a Buc, being a top 10 QB in 2018 before being thrown into a brand new offense in 2019.
*In 2019, even with throwing 30 interceptions, the Bucs were #3 in total scoring and top 10 in points per possession.
*30 interceptions didn't keep the Bucs out the playoffs. Matter of fact, they were eliminated during a 4 game win streak. The first 8 games tell the story of the 2019 Bucs season (what was Teddy Bridgewater's best game during that 5-0 run?)
*He sits a year behind Drew, which he stats has been the best thing that happened for him in the NFL
*In 2021, where our roster is in shambles because COVID destroyed the salary cap, he has a 5-2 record while being top 10 in nearly QB stat and metric, being top 3 in at least half. And this is while throwing to UDFAs and Kamara (who would have obliterated his career high in TD receptions)
*He played 2 out of 3 games in 2022 with a broken back and ruptured tendon, yet we care more about the 2 losses than any other game he played as a Saint, for whatever reason.
*This season, he took over an 1-6 team who was near or at the bottom in every offensive stat and he is currently graded as a top 10 QB, while leading a top 3 pass offense since taking over as a starter, being 2-2. If it wasn't for Taysom, we probably lose that game.
Sometimes, some things aren't based on what happens on the field.
As far as being in the minority, it has never bothered me. I always try to approach thing as objectively as I can, so you will always find that while you might not agree, my logic is sound. And truth is, more often than not, my points are proven right. Crap, I told folks why Russ would fail under Sean Payton 2 years before it was reality and I predicted what would happen last seasons...lol.
