Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary]

I don't see anyone signing him to a big contract after the issues he's had with both the Raiders and Jets. Are they both bad teams? Sure. Does that mean he doesn't have his own issues? No, not really. Teams looking to acquire him are gonna look for a cheap-ish deal or pass on him. I'm not sure anyone is gonna sign him to a big contract for someone who might end up being a rental.

Adams only real issue, outside of being bad a picking teams to play for, is his age. He'll be 32 to start next season. In the current environment, I just think that some team is going to offer him a reasonably large short term deal that is going to price the Saints out of the market. WRs have been getting crazy money lately and if Adams is still as good as some think he is, then he's going to get a reasonably large one or two year deal. And if he's not that good, then I don't see the point in signing him. And I know he likes Carr, but why wouldn't he take less money from a team like KC, Baltimore, etc. to have a shot a a ring?

But, if he comes cheap, sure give him a deal but the Saints still need to look at drafting a WR within the first 3 rounds of the draft. Preferably someone with size to be a true X and/or someone that can get YAC.

Regardless of how much Adams wants, this team needs to get younger and not older. I think it's a solid enough roster to compete in the South, but it's getting older and needs to add young talent to keep up in the South and to move toward being competitive for a Championship. To do that they either need to build a great young roster around a mid-tier QB or build a solid roster around a great QB. I just don't see Adams as a step in the direction of either. He just feels like a possible short term solution for a problem that needs to be fixed for the long term.
