Adams is going to want a bigish contract regardless of what happened in New York and I think he's going to get it from someone. And I suspect our spending the next offseason will be similar to this past offseason which means no big deals, maybe one medium sized deal (Young) and several lower level deals. (Gay, Harris, Wilson, etc.) I think Loomis is serious about getting the cap closer to even in anticipation of making a run and spending when they find a franchise QB.
So given the limited money we are likely to spend, I would much rather spend those limited resources on the DL or LG than at WR. If we keep running the same system we mostly use 2 WRs anyway and I would rather see the money spent on a real need along the DL and at LG. We can get by at WR with lower level guys like MVS, developing guys like Means, and drafting a WR in rounds 1 to 3. And maybe Means makes a big leap in year two or you hit big on WR in the draft.
To me Adams is the kind of guy you add to a team that is a good veteran WR away from making a run for the Super Bowl and the Saints aren't going to be that team next year.
And all of this is contingent on whether the Saints keep Derek Carr. I think they likely will, but there is a chance they hire a head coach that wants to move on or even Rizzi might want to move on. And if Carr goes, I see no way that Adams comes here.
