The fact that the NFL refuses to utilize the same open to the public review system that the XFL had where viewers were able to watch the guy in the booth review every angle in real time shows the NFL doesn’t want it to happen.
Small infractions like false starts, off sides, holding, hands to the face, I get it. But big game/momentum impactful calls like PI, roughing the passer, unsportsmanlike like conduct where they usually get the second player and not the first one, etc should all be reviewable.
I can’t remember which game it was last weekend, but there was a horrible OPI call on the team trying to score in the red zone as they were behind. They had 2 receivers on the left and 1 on the right. They all did crossing patterns and one of the receiver going left to right got called for OPI and the receiver that caught it scored a TD which was called back. The replay showed the receiver who got called for OPI intentionally tried to avoid hitting the defender and did not “per the rules” try to inhibit the defenders progress. But it was not reviewed and they wound up losing. This may have been a college game, I can’t remember.
