I wouldn't let Allen failing influence my opinion. Lots of defensive guys have succeeded as head coaches so it's not like it can't work. DA just isn't a head coach.

And some of the offensive guys might not be head coaches too. Ben Johnson looks great on paper but lots of guys that are very good OCs fail when they step up to being a head coach.

Anyway, I would also prefer an offensive coach because I think it's easier to find a good to great DC that will stay as DC than find a great OC that will stay, but if the offensive guys you can get don't look to be as good at the HC job as a defensive guy like Glenn, you should hire the defensive guy instead of settling for an offensive guy you like less than Glenn. To me, Glenn is likely the worst case scenario and I wouldn't have a problem with that hire if that is what happened.
