Anyone miss Sean Payton now even the biggest detractors?

You can appreciate Payton. You can’t avoid talking about Payton because his shadow looks so large in the franchise.
But it’s time to move on and find the next 10-15 year HC.

This is a great point for everyone to consider. Sean didn't do anything that many successful coaches (in the modern era of pro football) hadn't done before. Yes, sometimes a coach with a measure of success has a few rough years and they are sent packing because the demands are now higher. But other times a good coach just needs a change of scenery and heads for some greener pastures.

Of all the Saints coaches, Bum, Mora, and Sean made the personal decision that it was time to leave. All the rest got pink slips. It's just extremely rare that any head coach (even the successful ones) spends his entire coaching career with one franchise. We just have to hope that the front office has the wisdom to fill the vacancy with a capable replacement without falling in love with him. Because successful or not, he's probably not going to be with you for much more than a decade. In that regard, Sean gave us more than most. Now it's time for Gayle and her henchmen to get it right when the football season begins anew in a few months. By the end of February we'll know how desperate they are at finding 'Mr. Right'.
