Saints are back in the top 10 draft picks after Rams loss

Is Cam our best player? How much of a drop of is there to Werner, what about next year? Removing those and going to their understudies would make a significant difference in average age.
The core group of players that allowed the Saints to go on their historic run of regular season dominance from '17 to '20 are now old, retired, or playing somewhere else. We don't have a roster full of young talent waiting for their turn. It's not just about having a bunch of young guys to bring down the average age. It's about bringing in young (cheap) guys who can play. And we need a lot of them. Having a higher draft position doesn't mean that they'll hit on prospects but it puts them in a better position to draft quality players without trading up to get them. Or if they do feel like trading up then higher draft picks will help.

There is nothing to be gained this season. DA is gone so that's a bright spot and if we come out of this year with a top 10 pick then I'll take it. But this isn't going to be a quick turnaround imho. Time to think about the future and build up the roster.
