I bet the hang-up will be IF Johnson wants to work for Poles, who could be on his very last legs with the org. Taking your first HC gig for a lame duck GM isn't usually a formula for success--esp when the candidate will be the most coveted on the market. I suppose the same could be said for us, but the situation is a little different with Loomis imo.

From what I've heard, Poles is fairly well liked. Most of the coverage I've seen has lauded him for his moves such as acquiring Sweat and the heist he pulled off on Carolina. He hasn't been flawless, but generally speaking on the transaction side of things he's been praised.

But of course, as with most GMs, you only get 2 shots (if that) at hiring the right head coach before it falls on you, and Eberflus crashed and burned on national TV finally in the worst way. But I don't think this is a situation where Poles is necessarily on his way out. If anything, he's motivated to find the right head coach to work with the talent he has acquired. So I don't think Poles will be the (deciding) factor here.
