Is All Hope Lost?

The rebuilds already begun, Loomis alluded to it before this season even started when he talked about walking down the cap. Underhill reported Loomis was going to trade back with the Rams had Bowers fallen to 14. Loomis didn't make a move for any overpriced, cap killing players. No trading for end of career overpriced cap killers either. He shipped out Lattimore to stockpile more draft picks and accelerate how much sooner the Saints will be operating fully in the green again.

Rebuilding doesn't mean a nuke goes off on the roster. Every GMs goal is to have a rebuild that quietly replaces starters each season for two or three seasons. When anyone looks at what Loomis has done this season, it is pretty clear it has been a "beat who you're supposed to beat with what you got" season. Loomis absolutely decided to start the silent rebuild this year and by 2027 the Saints will be fully in the green and Loomis will be ready to kick the can again and make Nick Wrong bald even more when he has the right combination of Head Coach and roster.

Don't give up hope. The NFL is cyclical. The Saints are in for a couple more down years that are the price of not resetting as soon as Payton left. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, unless you're a forever downer in which case why even bother watching?
