RB Ashton Jeanty as the Saints 1st pick?

"I'm going to pass on an Adrian Peterson type of generational talent because I can get a Rico Dowdle on day 2". There is zero logic about that.
I’m going to draft Leonard Fournette because he’s a “generational prospect”. Pretending that teams aren’t regularly getting stud RB’s on day 2 (or later) is certainly a take.
Again, you don't draft for the coming season. You draft for 2+ years away. Kamara will be 32. Miller misses more games than he plays. If you think that's an answer at RB in two years, then you lack every bit of foresight imaginable.
I think in what is considered an excellent RB class you surely don’t have to take Jeanty or none at all lol. There are plenty of talented ones in this class even if Jeanty is getting all the hype. Hell look at the 2017 RB class, which I briefly referenced above where Fournette was the “generational” prospect and was arguably ended up as not even a top 10 RB from that draft class alone. While we got Kamara and several other teams got top RB’s on day 2 or later in that draft. RB is probably the easiest position to find a quality player to plug in outside the 1st round.

Regarding Miller, his injuries haven’t really been that severe while with us. Mostly soft tissue related injuries. The next few weeks will likely tell us a lot about Kendre Miller and what he can be for us. I’m also not going to sit here and pretend Kendre was the only player on the Saints dealing with hamstring injuries (and other similar soft tissue injuries) the past couple years. A simple read of our injury reports would certainly seem to indicate a deeper issue with the sheer amount of players ending up with these types of injuries compared to other teams. Changes were made recently with our coach and training staff and from what I can tell early signs have been positive so far on our injury reports.

Miller is clearly very talented and is showing some signs of being the guy we drafted him to be. He’s still only 22 years old. If he were to get hurt again before the season ends I’d probably change my tune on him, but for now, I’m all about seeing what he can do to close out the season. Even if Miller gets hurt, drafting a RB like Kaleb Johnson, Omarion Hampton, or Cam Skattebo on day 2 makes more sense purely from a roster building sense.

The amount of times over the last 10 years a highly drafted early 1st round RB has changed a teams fortunes isn’t exactly a bet any sane person would want to make at this point. Looking at guys like Leonard Fournette, Bijan Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley. How many playoff games did those players help get their teams to with the team that drafted them?

The closest to a success in recent years is Jahmyr Gibbs and he’s not even the teams feature back they took a free agent in David Montgomery last year and signed him for peanuts and he’s been in a 50/50 split with Gibbs for 2 seasons now.

I bet you're the guy who also wishes we drafted Lamarr Jackson in 2018 but also in 2018 said "We don't need him we have Brees for the coming year and Teddy Bridgewater".
Comparing a QB with a RB is actually laughable. But in all seriousness I was 100% sold on trading up for Lamar Jackson in that draft as I thought he was one of the best QB prospects I’d seen in 25+ years of following the draft and was pisses we spent it on a DE in Marcus Davenport.
