After Mason Graham, there doesn’t seem to be a clear cut difference-making DL in the premium pick range.
Next best DT prospect isn’t top 10 worthy. Edge is a must top 10 pick if there’s a productive starter lacking at DE2 going into the draft. If Chase Young is re-signed, the top 10-13 seems too expensive for a rotational 3rd DE. A top 10 range player would have to be an every down or featured starter by year 2, whether its S, DE, DT, G, RB, WR, or TE.
Evaluation of the available draft board should be able to determine the pick more than the position. I think DE depth is needed. But it’s very hard to seeing a rotational DE as the automatic preferred pick above a clear cut starter at another position. It’s easier to let the draft board unfold on its own to make the pick.
