My guess is that the level of 'ingenuity' depends on the person. I can imagine that there could be a certain 'shock factor' if a player is not very familiar with performing in that environment. If Rattler (and his coach) feels that experiencing similar temperatures in practice will help him to mentally prepare for the real thing, there may be some advantage. At least it could have a 'no surprises' benefit. But I suppose that it could also cause a player to focus more on the game temperature than executing the gameplan. Then again it may have no effect either way.
Whenever I've been in some bitter cold temps, being properly layered and staying active keeps the cold from being too much of an issue. I once snow skied in 43°F below zero with a wind chill factor that was much lower. I ended up removing a couple of layers because I was starting to perspire while skiing. Frankly I believe the Packers' defense will be a much bigger obstacle than the cold weather.
