Odds of Rizzi Getting Permanent Job and, If So, What Type of Contract

Rizz is 54 so, sure. And if I'm Rizzi, I'm setting up interviews in other markets to leverage if the Saints are waiting on their guy.

As for dumb, Mickey huffed the hype and fumes spilling out of his ego with the Allen hire, so everything with a slick oil salesman is UNKNOWN.

I'd guess Rizzi is going to get other interviews if he does not get the saints job and he should be making those plans. He got an interview last year and his resume is better this year.

But, outside of him beating the Packers and then winning the next 2, I don't see him getting the job with another team. And I think that should tell us something about if it's a good idea to hire him. I think his floor is pretty solid as an average HC, but I don't think he has the ceiling to become a great head coach because he's not an expert on either side of the ball. No matter how good he is, his success will be fully dependent on how good his front office is at brining in talent and how good his OC and DC are. That's a lot of hits you have the make for him to have a good year and I think it will stop other teams from hiring him. If he gets the job here, it will be because the players lobbied Gayle and Loomis for him to get the job.

I don't think the Allen hire had anything to do with Loomis' ego. He hired Allen because Payton told him to hire Allen and he thought Allen could continue what Payton built. It was a horrible and dumb decision but it was motivated by trusting Payton, not by ego. I'm not sure how that would be a decision driven by ego anyway.

But, yes, Loomis is capable of doing dumb things. But, he's also capable of doing smart things like hiring Payton and signing Brees. Hopefully he doesn't do the dumb thing here.
