Odds of Rizzi Getting Permanent Job and, If So, What Type of Contract

I guess its not out of the realm of possibility simply because of the sheer number of jobs that look like will be available after black monday, but I cant see him getting interviews with anyone else as a HC. Allen didnt get interviews with anyone else. Rizzi was a ST guy until 5 weeks ago. If Allen were the coach, he likely would have won and lost the same games (Allen did well late season after digging giant holes - he closed out 2022 3-1 and 2023 4-1). Rizzi hasnt won any games that stand out. A GB win tonight changes that a bit. But I dont see Rizzi as a commodity at this point. He is just playing a role.

I also think if Loomis is the GM, he cant do lazy again. Rizzi would be a lazy, in house, keep doing what youre doing type hire.

It would be telling if we hire 2 HCs in a row that dont get interviews with anyone else.

Rizzi has gotten HC interviews before (1 of them was the Saints when they hired DA) and he's often mentioned as a candidate. And yes, there are likely 8 jobs open so likely 40 or so interviews to go around. He's likely in someone's list of interviews given the large number of interviews to be given.

So, I think if he can win 1 or two more games, especially if one is GB, he might get an interview or two. But, I doubt he will be a serious contender. Then again, the Jets have done some dumb things over the years. I do think any interview he gets would likely be a due diligence interview but he could get them.

And I think it would be a bad idea to hire Rizzi here. I don't care if it's a lazy hire or not, but I do think that this team needs change. And, if it's not going to be at GM or head of pro scouting, then it needs to happen with the coaching staff. I think they have gotten complacent and need new blood to shake things up. I don't think Rizzi is that guy. He's been here too long to really look at things with fresh eyes or to make entrenched starters and role players feel their jobs are in jeopardy.
