Forgive me for saying this, but the Falcons 2024 Quarterback move is GENIUS!

I mentioned this in the thread about Cousins being released. I said that the Falcons and ourselves, took a sorta similar approach to our future with a young QB.
They got a QB in the 1st. We took one in the 5th.
Both Penix and Rattler can be good starters going forward.
Yeah, I think the decision by the Falcons had potential to look bad if Cousins played up to his contract and Penix already at 25yrs of age would have had to sit 2-3 years. Lucky for them that wasn't the case but, in the 2024 draft thread i mentioned. The Saints scratched off their lottery ticket for $1 the Falcons got a $20 dollar ticket. Both potentially have a max value of 100k.

We just got our cheaper.
You're going to have a tough time selling me on the idea that our plan was to replace Carr down the stretch of this season with one of our young backup QBs as our blueprint for the future.

You are correct to say that our season was derailed by an unimaginable number of injuries at most of the key positions on our team. But the Saints were looking at Carr as being the guy in the foreseeable future. He would not have been benched for Haener or Rattler no matter how ineffective Carr may have become.

The Falcons picked Penix because they anticipated Cousins being only a temporary solution to their QB issues. The Saints will be riding with Carr next year (until he gets injured again) unless by some miracle Rattler turns into the second coming of Fran Tarkenton. Other than that, the Saints have no plan.
I won't because that's not what I'm selling.

Just simply that the Falcons needed a succession plan and already knew Kirk wasn't the future. They used the highest draft pick on a guy that could succeed him ASAP. I think with us, we weren't looking to immediately replace Carr but also realized that we needed a succession plan, just not maybe this year. So we used a 5th on a QB.

Same thing, just different levels and perhaps maybe a lower expectation due to what as invested. I guess you could say their sense of urgency was higher, but the money they paid also doesn't suggest they had plans of of replacing Kirk this year either. Just the way the chips fell. However, if you believe that statement to be true then I'll likely end this here.
